Saudi Arabia shocked Argentina with a 2-1 victory in the Group C opening at the Lusail Stadiun to start off Day 3 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Lionel Messi’s penalty gave Argentina the lead early in the first half, but the Saudis came out strong to start the second. Eight minutes after halftime, the Asian team secured the victory with goals from Saleh Alshehri and Salem Aldawsari.
In their Group C match on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia stunned Argentina 2-1 thanks to outstanding individual goals from Saleh Al-Shehri and Salem Al-Dawsari. Al-Dawsari curled in a scorching shot from the edge of the penalty box in the 53rd minute, leaving Argentina, one of the tournament favourites, looking shell-shocked. In the 48th minute, Al-Shehri managed to squeeze in a low shot. Argentina’s unbeaten streak of 36 matches has come to an end.
At the World Cup, 53rd-ranked Saudi Arabia defeated Argentina. It’s the first defeat for Argentina in three years! Nevertheless, Saudi Arabia is jubilant!
