Road accidents, according to the High Court, are man-made catastrophes. Justice Devan Ramachandran expressed his worry that accidents caused by tripping over potholes on public roads would continue to be reported. He also inquired of the National Highway Authority, who was to blame for all of these mishaps. At the same time the National Highway Authority believes the contractor is responsible for the passenger’s death.
The government has been ordered to inform the court of the legal actions being taken against those who caused the disaster and the steps being taken to obtain compensation. A report on the actions taken by the National Highways Authority should also be submitted.
