At the Veer Bhumi in Delhi on Saturday, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tribute to their late father Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 78th birthday.
Rahul Gandhi wrote: “Papa you are with me every time in my heart. I will always try to fulfil the dreams for the nation you have cherished.” in a tweet that was sent in Hindi.
In the meantime, the Congress party tweeted the following: “On the anniversary of his birth, we remember Rajiv Gandhi, the former prime minister of India, with affection. His keen insight was credited with being the “architect of 21st century India,” ushering in the IT and telecom revolution in India. We honour his legacy today.”
The Youth Congress (IYC) will host a programme at the Talkatora Stadium to commemorate the occasion and highlight the works of the late Prime Minister.
According to IYC President Srinivas B.V “Rajiv Gandhi, who worked to create a powerful and independent India, was the architect of modern India. His vision is still paying off for the nation. His foresight allowed India to join the group of powerful, advanced countries.”
