The Class 12 student, whose age was 19 years old, were critically burned with 90% burns when she was first brought into Dumka’s Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital. The police claimed that later on, she was directed to Ranchi’s Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) for better treatment.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, the woman passed away from burn injuries while receiving treatment at RIMS, Ranchi. After the post-mortem is completed, her body will be taken to Dumka, as per Nitish Kumar, head of the Dumka Town Police Station.
Shahrukh, the accused, has already been taken into custody, he claimed.The event occurred on Tuesday morning in Dumka Town while the woman was sound asleep at home.
According to reports, Shahrukh doused the woman in gasoline and lit her on fire from a window. The alleged offender works in construction.
In her statement to an executive magistrate, the woman claimed that the accused had contacted her on her cell phone around 10 days earlier, pleading with her to become his friend. On Monday at around 8 o’clock, he contacted me once more and threatened to murder me if I did not talk to him. My father assured me that he would speak with the man’s family on Tuesday after I told him about the threat. We ate dinner and then went to bed. I was sleeping in a different room. Tuesday morning, I woke up with a pain in my back and the scent of burning things. I opened my eyes to see him racing away. As soon as I began to scream in pain, I ran to my father’s room.
The woman had difficulty speaking while the police wrote down her statement, “My parents put out the fire and rushed me to the hospital.”
