‘No matter what bill is passed, political appointments will not be accepted’: Kerala Governor

Arif Muhammad Khan, the governor, has reaffirmed that relatives cannot be appointed to university positions. The governor made it plain that no matter what bill is passed, political appointees will not be accepted. On the bill to alter the university system, the governor stated he would not comment. He made it clear that it would not be acceptable to undercut the universities’ independent authority.

Universities must abide by UGC regulations. The governor claimed that upholding the constitution was his responsibility. As Chancellor, he claimed to be embarrassed by Priya Varghese’s political appointment.

The law and the constitution shall be protected. The bill’s constitutionality will be examined when it is introduced. The governor claimed that he had no involvement in the decision to turn the measure up to the relevant committee.
