Minister P. Rajeev’s route change incident: The suspension of the policemen has been lifted

The decision to suspend the police officers involved in the incident involving P Rajiv’s official vehicle changing its route has been reversed. The city police commissioner himself lifted the ban on senior CPO Sunil and grade SI Sabu Rajan.

The police officers were suspended by the municipal police commissioner in relation to the minister’s altered route on the night of August 11 as he travelled to Kochi through Thiruvananthapuram. By altering the previously indicated path, the minister was brought to the national highway. It was noted that the minister had experienced difficulties as a result of the route adjustment.

After taking part in the function at Pallichal in Neyyattinkara, the minister made the decision to head back to Ernakulam. The Minister was being escorted by Saburajan and Sunil from Pallichal to Kazhakootam Vetturod. At first, it was decided to take the road from Karamana to the Attakulangara side and enter the National Highway at Enchakkal Junction.

After taking part in the function at Pallichal in Neyyattinkara, the minister made the decision to head back to Ernakulam. The Minister was being escorted by Saburajan and Sunil from Pallichal to Kazhakootam Vetturoad. At first, it was decided to take the road from Karamana to the Attakulangara side and enter the National Highway at Enchakkal Junction.

However, both of them decided to take the route from Karamana via Thampanur to Chaka via Palayam underpass and from there accessing the national highway due to the current construction on the Attakulangara road and the fact that it is a busy road. The minister had expressed his problem with this to the commissioner of the Thiruvananthapuram City Police. On the basis of the ACP’s report, the district criminal cell thereafter took action against the officials.

However, the action greatly displeased the police. The cops did not perform poorly in the event, according to the police department’s review. The Police Association also stepped forward to address this issue. The abrupt action angered the minister as well. In this case, the City Police Commissioner himself issued a directive to lift the two people’s suspension.
