Kerala rains: Central Water Commission says flood situation in 2 districts

According to the Central Water Commission, Kerala’s two districts are experiencing flooding.
The districts of Pathanamthitta and Idukki are now experiencing flooding. Manimalayar, Achankovilar, and Thodupuzha rivers all have high water levels.

Alerts have been issued for Bharathapuzha, Karuvannur, Keecheri, Chalakudy, Periyar, Meenachal, Manimala, Thodupuzha, Achankovil and Pampa rivers. There is a warning in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Idukki, Alappuzha and Pathanamthitta districts. Water levels in Idukki, Idamalayar and Kaki dams are above 80%.

Due to the heavy rainfall, Kochi city is simultaneously experiencing severe water-logging. The city’s key arteries were under water, which caused worsening traffic bottlenecks. Water damage also occurred to homes and businesses. Train service was somewhat hampered by the weather.
