Five college students find watery grave.

    Thrissur,  Oct 21 (IVC)     Five  students  of    S M N V College,   Malumuchampatty near  Coimbatore (Tamil  Nadu)   died  of  drowning  when  they were   taking  bath   in    a  river  in  Valppara in Thrissr  District Oct  20  afternoon  , police  said.      

                Police  gave  the  names  of  the  deceased  Nabel (20), Ajay   (20), Sarath (20), and brother s  Danushkumar (20)   and Vineethkumar  (23)..All hailed  from  Coimbatore  city.

                The  mishap  occurred when  the first  student  was trapped  in the flow of water  and others  died of drowning   in their  futile  attempt  to  save  the  life  of their  friend.

                In  all  there  were  10 students  and they  had  come to see  the beauty  of Vaalppara  and its  periphery  and they  had come on five  motor  bikes, police  said.

                The  bodies  were  recovered   by  the  fire  personnel  yesterday evening  and they  were  sent to  Pollachi  Government Medical  College  Hospital  for  post mortem  examination,  the  police said.

“One Face Before Us, Another Before Media,” says Congress in criticism of Shashi Tharoor

With the election for party president completed, the Congress today slammed Shashi Tharoor for being “two-faced” in response to his claims of “very significant anomalies” in the internal voting. The election in-charge, Madhusudhan Mistry, responded to Shashi Tharoor’s team by saying, “I’m sad to tell that you had one face before me that communicated that you’re content with all our replies and different face in the media that made all these claims against us.” In the election, Mallikarjun Kharge easily defeated Shashi Tharoor, becoming the first president of the Gandhi Congress in 24 years. Salman Soz, Mr. Tharoor’s election agent, wrote to Mr. Mistry while the ballots were being counted yesterday, calling attention to “disturbing facts” regarding the poll in Uttar Pradesh and requesting that the results be thrown out. Even while Mr. Tharoor later expressed regret over the release of a “strictly internal letter” and urged everyone to “move on,” the Congress’s response was scathing and merciless. Mr. Mistry said in his point-by-point refutation that “we granted your request… and in spite of that you went to the media stating that the Central Election Authority was conspiring against you.” By giving the idea that the entire exercise was unjust to your candidate, you sought to make a mountain out of a mole(hill), he added. Throughout his campaign for the top position in the Congress, Mr. Tharoor frequently voiced his worries about a “uneven playing field,” saying that the two contenders were treated “vastly differently.” Even though the Congress stated that the election was free and fair, few questioned Mr. Kharge’s victory because he was largely regarded as the “Gandhis endorsed” choice.

Google India sacks around 450 employees from operations
