On August 12, the Bengaluru city police detained a 30-year-old engineer who was allegedly found filming the Karnataka theatre showing of the Laal Singh Chaddha movie, starring Aamir Khan.
Suryavamshi R, a representative of the media and entertainment company Viacom18 Media Private Ltd, reportedly filed a complaint with the police alleging that Jeba Stephenraj J was allegedly seen recording the movie at a Bengaluru theatre. According to police, as soon as the suspect recognised Suryavamshi in the theatre, he swiftly deleted the video that was being filmed.
The accused, according to Suryavamshi’s accusation, was a member of an organized crime syndicate that posted and distributed movies on social media and other platforms. The distributor of the movie, Viacom18, warned that such acts of piracy could result in significant losses for the creators and producers.
The police are still looking into whether Jeba was a member of any syndicate and have submitted his cell phone to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for additional inspection. After being arrested for violating the Copyright Act and the Cinematography Act, the guy was later released on bond.
The Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ is ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, and it is directed by Advait Chandan.
