Beeyar Prasad, a poet and lyricist, passed away on Wednesday in Changanassery. He was 62.
For some years, he had been ill. He underwent a kidney transplant in 2019, and in November of last year, a brain haemorrhage left him fighting for his life.
Prasad, a multi-talented individual, penned Malayalam lyrics for around 60 films. His Malayalam film debut was in 2003 with the Priyadarshan-directed film Kilichundan Mambazham. Vidyasagar was the composer of the music.
Additionally, he composed music for the Vamanapuram Bus Route, Pattanathil Sundaran, Jalolsavam, and other productions.
Prasad, who is from Mankompu in Alappuzha, has made a name for himself as a TV host and public speaker. He has authored a lot of librettos for Kathakali as well. The 1993 film Johny, which Prasad wrote the script for, took home the Kerala State Film Award for Best Children’s Film.
