Bulldozers return to Noida Politician’s society after his arrest for abusing woman

Bulldozers and a police squad arrived today to clear unlawful encroachment by residents while they fought the move at Uttar Pradesh’s Noida’s Grand Omaxe Society, where jailed politician Shrikant Tyagi was recently recorded on camera abusing a woman resident. To prevent the authorities from entering, residents of the housing complex closed the society’s entrance gate and staged a sit-in protest outside of it. This comes after the illegal building outside the residence of Shrikant Tyagi, who is rumoured to be close to the BJP, was destroyed more than a month ago.  Anu Tyagi, Shrikant Tyagi’s wife, appears to have made the most recent provocative statement by asking why only some of her home was torn down although others also had illegal construction. After planting palm palms in the communal garden in front of her apartment, Anu Tyagi had three days earlier gotten into a new argument with other neighbours.  She was observed objecting against the removal when the authority’s excavators arrived at the location.  She grasped the devices firmly.  I won’t allow that to happen, she told news agency ANI. “Action taken by smashing my house was done after a one-sided probe, and the same is currently being done to my trees. Anu Tyagi had erroneously planted 20 plants in the society’s common space three days prior.  Like her ground-floor apartment, she had also demanded the destruction of all illegal structures in society. The Noida Authority had issued a warning to the entire community, stating that anyone with an encroachment must remove it within 48 hours, or by Friday, in order to avoid having it forcibly removed. Shrikant Tyagi, 34, was detained on August 9 in Meerut by the Noida police under the UP Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act after a video dated August 5 showed him acting inappropriately and abusively against a woman. Tyagi claimed to be the leader of the BJP’s farmer wing.  It required a significant search effort because he was moving about while evading capture.  When she confronted him about the same common area’s unauthorised use, he had abused the woman. On Thursday, the Noida police detained over 75 protestors outside Shrikant Tyagi’s society, the majority of them were Tyagi community members.
