All petitions related to the actor rape case were postponed for hearing by the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court on Friday until August 24.
The case was transferred from additional special sessions court to principal sessions court in response to petitions filed by the prosecution and the survivor. On Friday, when the case was scheduled for hearing, the court was informed that a related petition had been submitted to the high court and was still pending. The HC judge who was assigned to the case recused himself on Friday, according to information provided to the court, and the case was postponed until Monday. On Friday, the primary suspect Pulsar Suni was brought before the judge. He submitted a bail request, pleading with the chief justice to consider it.
Meanwhile, the defence counsel filed yet another contempt of court claim against a television network. They claimed that the channel had openly disobeyed the court by airing a document from the HC registry about the case’s withdrawal. Additionally, the investigation officer received a notice in relation to the accusations made against him.
