Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy rainfall across Kerala till Wednesday. As per the alert, cyclonic circulation which lies over the south-central Bay of Bengal is likely to bring heavy rains in the southern states of India.
In view of this, IMD has sounded yellow and orange alerts in various districts from July 30 to August 3.
Fishermen are also advised not to venture into the sea.
“Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph is likely to prevail over Kerala coast and adjoining southeast Arabian sea. Fishermen are advised not to venture into the above sea areas from July 30 to August 3,” reads the IMD alert.
The Kerala Disaster Management Authority advised people residing on river banks, coastal areas, hilly areas and places prone to natural calamities like landslides to stay vigilant.
